Lydia, nice photos! I personally enjoy gardening, and I can clearly see your essay is about capturing this kind lady enjoying gardening, especially the hard work it takes to keep up with. You have nice focal points in your photos with the gloves, flower, and herb. You completely capture her emotion especially in the photos she smiles in. Maybe try some different points of view or depth of field to make these good photos even more dramatic. Over top of her, down on the ground looking up at her, from each side while playing with ISO and apertures. You can also try using the flash even in the light to try to make your points brighter.
